I searched for information today. I sent an email to:

Canada Border Crossing Services Winnipeg, Manitoba, CanadaPhone - (204) 488-6350Fax - (204) 975-0394E-mail us at: info@bordercrossing.ca asking how my grandfather Nathan could have gone from Winnipeg in 1893 to Idaho and married by Nov 20, 1905, and I also sent out two snail letters to The Border Port of Porthill and the Border Port ofEastport, both in Idaho. I don't know if they have archives to search for information for us genealogists or not. I hope so. That's my brick wall; when and how did Nathan cross over from the Parisian ship going to Winnipeg in 1893 and get to Council, Idaho to marry on Nov 20, 1905. That's 12 years that are unaccounted for.

Lewis Goldfus Family Comes to New York

On April 30, 1909, Lewis Goldfus, Jewish jeweller from Russia who had been living in London, England, set sail for New York with his family on the ship, Cedric. They were listed as Hebrews.

Lewis was 42 and his wife Sofie was 38. They had six children: Yette 17 a milliner, Abe 14 a watchmaker, Ester 11, Rosa 10, benny 8 and sarah 6. They had been living with Sofie's brother Mr. Golange at 22 Harrow Rd, London, England. They arrived in New York on May 9, 1909. A nine day trip wasn't all that bad.

Rachel Goldfoot in Dublin

I just received an email about a Rachel Goldfoot who married Jacob "Jack" Goldwater. Jacob died in Dublin around 1966. I don't know who this Rachel is.

This is from Mary Sayers. Jacob was her mother-in-law's father's descendent. Evidently the Goldwaters were living in Dublin and a Morris Goldwater b: 23 Feb 1867 died there in 1942 at the home of his son, Israel "Erwin" Goldwater, a violinist who was born about 1887, probably in Poland, London, or elsewhere. Morris had two sons, Phillip and Jacob.

It's interesting that a Goldwater married a Goldfoot. I'd like to know who her parents were.

Age Cause of dna Mutations?

It's not a scientific fact, just an observation from a few of my ISOGG peers that the age of the father may have an effect on the mutation happening in the offspring male. They have found changes happening from older fathers that do not happen with young fathers. This could account for why we have a difference of 3 from Ian's family and our family of Goldfoots.

I've always wondered what events cause mutations; whether it be diet, sickness or what. It's just something to wonder about. The Ydna haplogroups can change so easily whereas the Mtdna hardly ever do.
